Kutub Al Maha is a publishing house founded for one reason – to make reading in Arabic fun!

We want our books to be the ones you reach for at bedtime. Or even better, the ones your child picks out.

Readers are built with entertaining books. The adult reading Proust and Mahmoud Darwish began with The Gruffalo or a book of facts about football. We believe humour and fun will build the literature-lovers and Arabic-lovers of the future.

Arabic is not my native language. But I am a children’s book editor, so when my children and I started learning Arabic, I reached for books to help us. I quickly found it very difficult to find entertaining books for them. Every night they choose two stories to read together, one in English and one in Arabic. In Arabic they were picking the same titles again and again.

Kutub Al Maha exists because I decided to try and create those books myself, and make that choice of titles a bit bigger.
